Why this webzine?
The construction industry sits at the intersection of the major contemporary challenges facing our planet and humanity: the climate crisis, energy emergency, rapid urbanization, the social challenge of providing decent housing, and the necessary protection of natural resources.
Given the complexity of these issues, we have solutions and a force for change at our disposal, just as decision-makers around the world are committing to building a more sustainable world.
In this context, Saint-Gobain launched the Sustainable Construction Observatory, a unique tool for informing, listening, understanding, and uniting all stakeholders in sustainable construction. It includes the Global Sustainable Construction Barometer, which assesses the pulse of sustainable construction worldwide: perceptions and realities, obstacles and drivers of progress, expected solutions, and the most active stakeholders. It allows us to measure progress and identify areas where collective efforts should be focused. The observatory also includes Sustainable Construction Talks, which bring together stakeholders in a still fragmented global market for roundtable discussions to share insights and best practices, generate solutions, and put them into practice.
To complete this ecosystem, the webzine Constructing a Sustainable Future is intended as a link between the various representatives of the building and construction industry, as well as a platform for sharing the best achievements, best practices and innovations that will accelerate the decarbonization of the construction industry and the sector’s overall transition. It is aimed at and gives a voice to all those committed to this goal: architects, urban planners, developers, builders, craftsmen, manufacturers, distributors, politicians and students.
